BMR Guide: Resting Energy in Plain English
BMR estimates how much energy your body uses at rest. It is the floor of the conversation, not the full day.
What BMR includes
BMR covers basic life functions such as breathing, circulation, and temperature regulation.
It is not the same as your real-world daily calorie burn.
Why activity still matters
A daily intake target should consider walking, training, work, and ordinary movement.
That is why TDEE is usually more practical than BMR alone.
When BMR helps most
BMR helps explain why very low-calorie plans often feel hard to sustain.
It gives useful context for safe, realistic intake planning.
Checklist
- Use BMR as baseline context.
- Do not mistake BMR for a final calorie target.
- Pair it with real activity data.
